- 내용: Ultrasound imaging has become a
crucial modality in clinical settings, offering real-time, high-resolution
images of tissue morphology and function non-invasively. Despite decades of
technological advancements that have reduced the size of ultrasound systems
from cart-based models in the 1970s to portable and wearable devices in the
2020s, imaging still requires the ultrasound transducer to be in physical
contact with the target surface (e.g., skin) to minimize acoustic impedance
mismatch. This physical contact not only hampers the minimization of ultrasound
systems but also restricts their use in clinical interventions. For example,
during surgical procedures, ultrasound imaging often necessitates pausing the
surgery to manually manipulate the transducer for the desired imaging plane,
disrupting the surgical workflow.
In this talk, I will present studies aimed
at innovating current ultrasound-based clinical interventions by leveraging
laser technology and the photoacoustic effect to achieve full non-contact
imaging for various clinical applications. Firstly, I will introduce the use of
non-contact focused photoacoustic waves for vision restoration. Secondly, I
will describe methods to efficiently conduct ultrasound imaging during
laparoscopic prostatectomy, including the use of a photoacoustic marker to
register the ultrasound system with the laparoscopic camera in a semi
non-contact manner, and enhancing the spatial resolution of ultrasound images
via signal processing techniques. Additionally, I will address functional
imaging methods for photoacoustic microscopic imaging to provide high-quality
image-based surgical guidance. Lastly, I will discuss the development of fully
non-contact ultrasound imaging, with a focus on delivering high-resolution
imaging and vector Doppler imaging for the first time.
